A HISTORY BUILT IN STEEL

History is a funny thing. While most of the history we read about in school is the story of big events, most real history is made by ordinary people taking everyday steps to build their lives and their dreams.

Here at SteelCo, our history is a combination of evolution and intelligent design. We began with a vision, worked hard to make it come true, and continue working hard to make our quality products and services even better.

SteelCo through the Years

SteelCo was founded in 2001 by three friends: Shane Millwood, Denny Hewell and Jason Smith. And from the first moment, we began making history in the steel building industry.

Every SteelCo customer from the beginning saw the difference between us and the other guys—the care, quality and attention to detail that went into each SteelCo building, and our reputation began to spread.

As SteelCo evolved and grew, we marked significant dates along the way:

• 2003: After only two years in business, we sell our 250th unit.
• 2005: We move into our own facility on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Perfect timing, because we do what we love and love what we do: designing and constructing top-tier steel buildings for quality-conscious customers.
• 2005: We sell our 500th unit.
• 2006: We win the Dick James Small Business of the Year award, given to the member of the Newton County Chamber of Commerce that best exemplifies the spirit of a small business —no small feat for such a young company, especially since over 90% of the Newton County businesses are classified as small businesses.
• 2007: We sell our 1000th unit, doubling our rate of business in only two years.
• 2007-2008: We help our friends at the Newton County Recreation Commission build a healthier, happier community by donating $20,000 worth of steel products, including a 400-SF entrance to the City Pond Park.
• 2008: We raise over $23,000 for the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” event—one more small way we at SteelCo work to repay the community that has been so good to us.

The Future is Now

As 2009 begins, we at SteelCo are helping rewrite the history of the American steel building industry—from its humble beginnings to its current phenomenal success, acclaimed for its new breed of structures of superior design, workmanship and versatility; ready to go head-to-head with any “traditional” building format—and ready to win.

In short, we are still looking ahead. And from what we see, the future looks bright as the sun.
